The Evans Family has been in the meat business since the early 1950s, when James T. Evans, Sr. started Southeastern Meats. J.T. "Butch" Evans, Jr. grew up learning the details of operating an efficient meat production and distribution company. Butch has now passed down that invaluable wisdom and knowledge to his three sons, who also grew up in and now run the business.
The evolution of our Fresh Seafood program started in 2009 and is now in full swing with multiple Gulf trucks delivering every week, a fully customizable processing room, and relationships with top farmers all over the world. The fresh seafood business is all about trust, so meeting fishermen face-to-face is important to us. A solid relationship with the fisherman gives a good inside look at their process, where they fish, how long the boats are on the water, and how they store seafood while on the boat.
With over 30 years of combined experience in specialty food, our Specialty Category Manager and Purchasers are focused on bringing in the best cheese and specialty products from all over the world since 2019. Featuring high quality domestic and imported cheeses, cured meats, sweet and savory pantry items.
The other key employees in the company are veterans in the meat, seafood, and cheese business bringing their expertise to butchering, quality control, purchasing, sales, and marketing. Industry experience is a key component of our company's ability to produce and deliver high-quality products.
