Homeplace Pastures

Homeplace Pastures is one of our newest suppliers. The Bartlett family has been farming the Homeplace land east of Como, MS for over 150 years. The 5th generation transitioned the farm from input-intensive row crops into a regenerative grazing operation, using animal impact to rebuild soils and produce award-winning, pasture-raised pork.

What is regenerative farming you may ask?

Regenerative agriculture is a style of farming that focuses on soil health by managing a farm like an ecosystem, with multiple species of livestock working together to emulate a natural environment and create abundance.

Regenerative farms:
- Build soil health
- Sequester greenhouse gases in the soil
- Enhance watershed health and water infiltration
- Increase biodiversity

Harvested and processed all on their farm, Homeplace Pastures has their own USDA facility in the middle of their farm. This is a very special and unique part of their mission. Their pork products are Certified Humane and appear on the ASPCA®’s list of certified farms and products. They are a no-antibiotics-ever program, and don’t use hormones or growth promotants at any stage of production for any of their livestock species.

They work with a small network of family-owned farms who raise pigs in open pastures and are fed non-GMO corn grown on their property. Their hogs are at least 50% Berkshire Swabian with Duroc and Hampshire influence in the other half of their genetic makeup.

All of these features not only match our standard for hard work, integrity, respect for animals and the environment, but also result in exceptional quality. We’ll be carrying chops and various other cuts, but will also be making all of our housemade sausages with their pork.
